Do you see that look in their eyes, Rock? You have got to get that look back, Eye of the tiger, man — Apollo Creed
That was precisely what Apollo Creed said to Rocky in the Rocky III movie.
Rocky was badly lost in fear.
Within him, there was no willingness, chance, or hope to defeat the opponent.
We often experience the same.
We lose that bright in our eyes.
This might happen one or more times in our lives.
This might happen at any age or stage of our life.
But just for a while, let’s come back to a life point when you were eager and willing to move toward your goals for free.
You had that “edge”, “tone”. You had that eye of the tiger.
I remember the eagerness I had when I was a teenager.
I remember my willingness to do, work and help with anything that was in front of me.
I helped as a baker, worker, plumber, and farmer.
I took care of someone’s house.
I was an independent vegetable seller.
Everything I did had two purposes. Two reasons — Support others and support my goals.
Everything I did mapped out with a personal or professional goal.
There was a clear target.
The more I helped, the closer I was to it.
As time went on, I lost that look in my eyes. I lost the eagerness.
I had got to get it back.
I needed to start at the beginning of an interesting life stage — my teens
I had to ask myself what motivate me back then.
I needed to start at square zero again.
Building the skill of starting at square zero has helped me back that eagerness.
It has helped me come back that look in my eyes.
